When Ferndale has the ball: The Golden Eagles got their season turned around last week against Marysville-Getchell, and it looked like Ferndale football. Give the ball two a few different backs a few dozen times, and lets see what you can do about it. The offensive line had a mean-streak in it, especially in guards Geirean Hatchett and Darius Washington. Expect senior fullback Gader Fox to pound the ball up the middle, and senior half back Bryan Ebe to slash around the tackles for big yards. Quarterback Sequoyah Julius is looking more comfortable every game in his new position, and he found Watiko Leighton for a touchdown last week.

When Arlington has the ball: Ferndale’s defense has been tested this season, but the improvement has shown each and every week. The secondary has been strong, with Leighton ball-hawking from his safety position. A short passing won’t work against the Golden Eagles, as they are an extremely sure-tackling bunch. Arlington likes to throw it all over the place, but it’s All-Conference quarterback will have to run away from senior defensive end Brett Westford. Middle linebacker Uriah Guillroy has been outstanding this season. Last week he intercepted a pass and blocked a key extra point.

Special Teams are special: Daniel Stewart has proven to be one of the most consistent kickers in the county, and has yet to miss an extra point. He also has very high kickoffs that are placed very well. Junior Jacob Broselle has mastered the rugby-style of punting, and can be a threat at any time to take off for a first down. He’s also dynamic in the return game, along with Ebe and Michael Bernard.

When they play each other: Ferndale holds a 14-11 record over Arlington in their meetings since 1975. But, the Eagles haven’t topped the Golden Eagles since 2011. Ferndale legend Matthias Wilson ran for 308 yards against Arlington in 1997, in a 33-30 loss.
