When Blaine has the ball: The Blaine offense picked up a little last week when they inserted Alex Mercado at running back, and Jacob Westfall at guard. The Borderites should continue quick passes to the outside for Chase Abshere, and let the athletic senior make moves against his defender.
When Mountlake Terrace has the ball: The Borderite defense has been great, and is allowing the least amount of yards per game against them in the county (206). Hudson Reid has emerged has a leader from his linebacker spot. Wyatt Cole and Connor Ellis can plug up the middle, and sophomore Seth Blomeen had a 40-yard interception return last week.
Statistical Progress: Abshere is among the all-time leaders in receiving for the entire county. He has currently caught 89 passes in his career for 1231 yards and 14 touchdowns. He’s currently ranked 35th ALL-TIME in Whatcom County receiving, and is still moving up the board.
