SQUALICUM (6-1) AT OAK HARBOR (6-1)
Time: 7 PM Friday
Site: Wildcat Memorial Stadium
When Squalicum has the ball: The Storm boasts Whatcom County’s leading rusher with Spencer Lloyd, and Devante Powell ran for 230 yards last week. Squalicum is rolling right now, and it has the offensive line to roll behind. Dedrick Mitchell is turning into the go-to receiver, but you have to watch for him on fly sweeps. Look for the Storm to try and control the clock, which is something that Oak Harbor can do extremely well.
When Oak Harbor has the ball: The Wildcats are fast, technical and extremely efficient. They can lull you to sleep with three and four yards runs, and then before you know it, they just rattled off a 20-play drive that took the entire quarter. The line play will be huge, and Jackson Campbell may be the difference maker. Collin McEachran and Zach Tucker are fantastic tacklers, and they will need to be against this offense. The Storm secondary has intercepted more passes than any other team in Whatcom County.
Climbing up the school-record list: Spencer Lloyd is wrapping up a tremendous career, and he could end his career with more than 2000 yards rushing AND passing! He’s currently at 1772 yards rushing and 1940 yards passing. Forget school records, only three other players in Whatcom County history have accomplished that feat. Jake Locker, Josh Kraght and Tanner Myhre. That is pretty impressive company.
