SEHOME (5-3) AT BELLINGHAM (5-3)

Time: 7 PM Friday

Site: Civic Stadium

When Sehome has the ball: The Mariners had their biggest offensive explosion of the season last week against the Red Raiders, but I’m sure that offensive coordinator Greg Terpstra will throw in a few wrinkles for this game. Running back Dylan Roberts continues to show that he’s one of the top backs in the area. Quarterback Jacob Kaepernick has thrown for over 2000 yards and is looking for more with his fleet of wide outs. Butch Mullins and Christian Butenschoen can put pressure on the quarterback, and linebacker Jackson Taylor is a sure tackler. Look for Spencer Lee to be a difference maker in the defensive backfield.

When Bellingham has the ball: Fullback Jack Fields was injured last week, and if he can’t go, Bellingham will look to spread the ball out in the backfield. Isiah Harrington is extremely explosive and he runs with a purpose. Elijah Kongshaug is a load to bring down on fullback dives, and Towner Goodman is a threat once he gets to the corner, and out of the backfield as a receiver. Linebacker Dawson Smith will be relied upon to stop the inside running game. Safety Jay Travier leads the county with seven interceptions. Nose tackle Josh Dentel is as active as any defensive lineman in Whatcom County.

Match-up of the game: Bellingham offensive tackle Butch Mullins versus Sehome defensive end Bryce Andrews. Too extremely strong players. This match-up could very well dictate how the game ends up.
