SQUALICUM (7-1) AT SNOHOMISH (6-2)
Time: 7 PM Friday
Site: Snohomish County Veterans Memorial Stadium
When Squalicum has the ball: The Storm have had little trouble scoring points as of late, and they will really need to in this game. Quarterback Spencer Lloyd kept the ball on the ground last week against Oak Harbor, only attempting six passes. Lloyd leads Whatcom County in rushing and in scoring. Junior Devante Powell has settled well into the running back spot. The offensive line, led by 6-foot-5 300-pound junior Brandon Gimse, is huge and extremely strong. Snohomish has been involved in shootouts most of the season, look for the same.
When Snohomish has the ball: Running back Tyler Massena is the real deal. He will most likely be the fastest player on the field, and he runs with anger. Tyler Larson is also a great back, and looks to finally be at 100% this season. Look for Snohomish to throw off of play-action when the defense comes up. Offensive lineman Carter Cole is a 6-foot-3 290-pound 4-year starter. Defensive lineman Jackson Campbell will have his work cut out for him, but if he can slow Messana down, that will be a huge help. Zach Tucker and Collin McEachran fly to the ball, it is hopeful for them that they can contain Messana before he flies by.
Player to watch for: I can’t say enough good things about Spencer Lloyd. At times he has put this team on his back, and he’s a true warrior on the football field. It’s hard not to believe in him.
