Binning

Squalicum sophomore pitcher Olin Johnson struck out 11 batters in six innings, and shortstop Mason Binning went 3-for-3 with two doubles to help the Storm win their first game of the season. Some defensive miscues by the Lions allowed Squalicum to achieve big innings in the fourth and the fifth. Eli Knowlton was 2-for-3 with three runs batted in. Lynden got hits from Carter VanDiest, Connor White, Isaac Vander Veen and Taivin VanDalen.

Sophomore pitcher Isaac Paxton earned the win with four strong innings pitched. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a team-high three runs batted in. Senior leadoff hitter Cole Moorlag was 3-for-4 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in. Eight different players scored for the Lyncs, and senior Luke Johnson struck out all three batters in his one inning of relief. Landon Kerzman led the Red Raiders with two hits, a stolen base and a run scored.

The Golden Eagles exploded for 10 runs in the first inning, and cruised from there on out two win their second game of the season. Center fielder Andrew James hit a 2-run homerun in the fourth inning to put a stamp on it. Third baseman Jake Mason was perfect at the plate, going 3-for-3, while knocking in four runs, and Dylan Strom was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBI’s. Senior Slater Whitaker went 2-for-3, and also pitched four innings in relief while striking out two batters.

The Seahawks proved to be too much for the youthful Pioneers. Nooksack Valley was able to hang around for a while, and was only down 2-0 after four innings, but it wouldn’t last. Jacob Tresselt and Jackson Lackey picked up base hits for the Pioneers, and freshman Kasey Newton allowed just one hit in three innings on the mound.

Sedro Woolley 13, Mount Baker 2

Larson

It was a rough one for the Mountaineers on the road, as Mount Baker allowed too many base runners (mostly on batters being hit by pitches), and the Cubs ended up scoring seven runs in the third inning. Sophomore Ethan Larson had an RBI double in the fourth inning which scored junior catcher Davin Beason. Junior second baseman Caleb Horsmon also had a hit for the Mounties.
