Sehome 5, Meridian 3

Kaepernick

The Trojan offense was never able to get on track, as Sam Clemenson pitched the best game of his varsity career, allowing just one hit over five innings to get the win. Jacob Gillig relieved him in the sixth inning, while Brooks Frere came on in the seventh to shut the door and pick up the save. First baseman Jacob Kaepernick went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in, while batting in the leadoff spot for the first time in his varsity career. Junior center fielder Bryce Johnson picked up Meridian’s lone hit. The Trojans did, however, get on base eight other times.

Peters

The Golden Eagles scored 12 runs in the fifth inning to put away the Red Raiders. Amazingly, Ferndale did all of it’s damage in that inning without recording a hit! Senior leadoff hitter Carson Peters was able to reach base three times, and scored all three times, while sophomores Jake Mason and Dylan Strom each scored twice, and senior Aidan Roddel picked up his second victory of the season on the mound. Bellingham center fielder Landon Kerzman went 2-for-2, and senior Manny DePalma had a hit and a run batted in.

Lynden Christian 12, Mount Vernon 5

Whittern

Senior third baseman Shale Whittern showed why he’s one of Whatcom County’s best baseball players, as he was just a double away from hitting for the cycle, and drove in six batters as the Lyncs continued on their great season. Hard-throwing senior Luke Johnson also struck out 10 Bulldogs and allowed just one hit over four and two thirds innings. Lynden Christian also got multiple hits from Cole Moorlag, Lane Dykstra, Preston Mark, Brody Bouwman and Charlie Terpstra.

W: Johnson (2-1)

Burlington-Edison 3, Nooksack Valley 1

DeLange

A first-inning double by junior Jet Triplett knocked in sophomore Bennett DeLange, and DeLange also pitched a whale of a game against a great lineup, but the Tigers were just a little too much for the Pioneers. DeLange went the complete game, and gave up just five hits.

L: DeLange (0-3)

NV: DeLange 1-2, R, BB, SB; Triplett 1-3, 2B, RBI.

Anacortes 3, Lynden 1

Zweegman

Lane Heeringa knocked in Ryan Kleindel in the final inning, but that was all the offense the Lions could muster up against the powerful Seahawks. Both players had two hits in the contest, while Lynden also picked up base hits from Connor White, Isaac Vander Veen and Case Zweegman. Ian Jacob pitched the complete game, giving up just five hits. He was also very efficient, throwing just 71 pitches in six innings.

L: Jacob (1-2)

LYN: Kleindel 2-3, R, SB; Heeringa 2-3, RBI, SB; Vander Veen 1-3; Zweegman 1-3; White 1-4, SB.

Sedro Woolley 4, Blaine 2

Simpson

The Borderites held a 2-0 lead going into the final inning, but the Cubs scored two in the seventh, and two more in the eighth, to win the closely fought contest in extra innings. Senior Kyle Turnberg pitched extraordinarily well, and gave up just one run while striking out four. Senior center fielder Everett Simpson had a pair of hits and scored both of Blaine’s runs, and sophomore shortstop Axel Puls was 3-for-4 with a run batted in.

L: Miller (0-1)

BLA: Simpson 2-4, 2 R, SB; Puls 3-4, RBI, SB; Turnberg 1-4, SB; McKinney 1-1.

Oak Harbor 9, Mount Baker 2

Beason

The Wildcats remained undefeated, this time getting a win against the Mountaineers. Mount Baker was able to get on the board in the sixth inning when junior catcher Davin Beason’s single scored seniors Toby Jefferson and Andrew Stalnaker. Stalnaker and junior Brent Anderson each threw three innings on the mound.

L: Stalnaker (0-2)

MB: Beason 1-3, 2 RBI; Jefferson 1-3, R; West 1-3.
