THE FEATURED FOUR
Djouvensky Schlenbaker – Senior – Running Back/Outside Linebacker
What hasn’t been said about Schlenbaker? Not only is he one of the best running backs ever produced from Whatcom County, he’s a class act human. It’s all about the team, and the future Washington State Cougar is also a star outside linebacker. He’s nearing the Top 10 in career rushing yards in Whatcom County, and you can bet he’s set some lofty goals for this season.
Bryson Lamb – Senior – Offensive Line/Outside Linebacker
No active player has more career sacks than Lamb, and that is also with him missing a lot of time from last season while recovering from an injury. He and Schlenbaker combine for the best outside linebacker combo in Whatcom County, and one of the best of all-time.
Kai Posey – Senior – Wide Receiver/Cornerback
Offensively, he can do it all, but is a major threat with the big play. Defensively, he’s the best lockdown corner in the county. Always playing bump coverage, and didn’t even allow a reception last season until the final game. A true star on both sides of the ball.
Jaymeson Thompson – Senior – Tight End/Inside Linebacker
From running back, to guard, and now the fullback/tight end hybrid. He can definitely make some big plays with the ball, but his calling card is on defense. A fierce inside linebacker that really broke out last season.
Who will be Squalicum’s break-out player?
Leyton Smithson – Senior – Quarterback/Safety
OK, it might not be fair to call him Squalicum’s “break-out” player, but he’s new to Whatcom County football… at least at the varsity level. He grew up in Bellingham, but has been playing high school in Idaho. His athleticism is off the charts, and with him playing quarterback, the possibilities will be endless for the Storm offense.
