In front of a packed crowd, the Golden Eagles used consistently play, quickness and strong outside play to defeat the Lions, 25-22, 25-18 and 25-20. Alyvia Semu and Kaelee Bungard led the way with their powerful hitting. Semu had a team-high 16 kills and seven digs, while Bungard had 13 kills and nine digs. The Lions got off to a big start in the opening set, forcing Ferndale to take a timeout as Lynden held an early 10-2 lead. Brooklyn Cagle had a great night, dishing out 33 assists while also adding five digs and a big block in the third set. The Lions were led by Ashley Shumate who had eight kills, three aces and 10 digs. Joslyn Sipma and Haylee Koetje had six kills each, Grace Rice led with 19 assists and Mya VanderYacht added three aces and 10 digs. Ferndale (2-0) will travel to Sehome (1-2) on Thursday to take on the Mariners, and Lynden (1-2) will host Lakewood (0-2) on Thursday.
