Meridian 11, Granite Falls 6

The Trojans jumped to 3-0 on the season and did it again by scoring early and often. Junior first baseman Tyrel Brooks’ single up the middle scored two runs to cap a 4-run first inning, and Meridian scored three more in the following inning. Sophomore Alex Short picked up his first varsity victory on his 16th birthday, and junior Hunter Jones closed the game out on the bump.

Columbia River 8, Lynden 3

The Lions held a 2-0 lead through the first half of the contest, but three big innings in a row by Columbia River turned around Lynden’s fortunes. Junior Lincoln Van Diest was impressive on the mound, going three innings without allowing a run while striking out three. L: Moore (0-1)

SE: Neff 1-3, 2B, 2 RBI; Moore 1-2, R, BB.

Lakewood 13, Squalicum 6

A marathon 10-run third inning by the Cougars was enough to spell doom for the Storm on Saturday afternoon. Junior Elijah Knowlton knocked in half of his team’s runs in the contest, while five other Squalicum players captured base hits.

The Bayhawks scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, when a sacrifice fly to right field off the left-handed bat of sophomore Joe Toof scored senior Landon Kerzman, and a single by sophomore Jake Troost scored junior Ethan Brimble, but the Falcons were able to best Bellingham overall.

L: Anderson (0-1)

BELL: Kerzman 1-3, R, BB; Brimble 1-4, R; Troost 1-3, RBI.

South Whidbey 4, Bellingham 0 (Game 2)
