THE FEATURED FOUR
Hunter Jones – Senior – Wide Receiver/Defensive Back
He led the entire county in interceptions last season with five, and he’s not just a ball hawk. He’s a ferocious hitter, and a true playmaker on offense. He’ll likely be a pure wide receiver this season, after taking a bunch of handoffs last season. He averaged over 20 yards per catch in 2021, and he’ll be relied on heavily to carry the offensive load.
Joshtyn Elmer – Junior – Running Back/Inside Linebacker
After exploding on the seen last year in week four, Elmer remained as the starting running back. Very quick, and not afraid of contact. A pest on defense. He does a tremendous job of disguising himself when he blitzes, and strong enough to reach out and make tackles.
Jaeger Fyfe – Sophomore – Quarterback/Defensive Back
A unique athlete that starred in all three sports at the varsity level last season as a freshman. The kind of leader that everyone rallies around, and the moment will not be too big for him. Always with a smile, you can tell that he truly loves being a student-athlete.
Eli Jensen – Senior – Wide Receiver/Defensive Back/Kicker
Another weapon for Fyfe on the outside. He has the ability to make spectacular catches, and he could have a really big senior year. An opportune playmaker on defense. A three-way threat, as he returns as one of the best placekickers in the county.
Who will be Meridian’s break out player?
Jaxson Hurlbut – Sophomore – Offensive Line/Defensive Line
He ended up starting a handful of games last season as a freshman, and he should blossom into one of the best linemen in the county. Strong, and tough, and plays well against players bigger than him. Understands the game, and what it takes to be great.
