Lynden 2, North Kitsap 1

In the first round of the 2A state tournament, and down 1-0, Kaedan Hermanutz led off the bottom of the fifth inning by doubling to center field. He reached third base on a bunt by Lane Heeringa and eventually scored to tie the game on a bunt by Jesus Ortiz. Two batters later a single by Kael Stapleton scored Heeringa from third base to give the Lions the lead. Junior Lane Simonsen was one out away from pitching the complete game, but still got his Whatcom County leading ninth win of the season, while senior Bubba Parcher came in to get the final out and pick up his Whatcom County leading fourth save of the year.

Lynden 3, Enumclaw 0

A 3-hit shutout pitched by Bubba Parcher helped the Lions clinch a spot in the semi-finals of the 2A state tournament. Parcher also helped his own cause by reaching base twice and scoring a run. Lincoln VanDiest picked up an RBI, while Lynden’s Campbell Nolte and River Langstraat also scored runs. The Lions (21-6) will face top-ranked Selah at 7:00 this Friday at Joe Martin Stadium.

La Center 9, Lynden Christian 7

In the first round of the 1A state tournament, down 6-0 after four innings, the Lyncs scored six of their own in the top of the fifth, which was punctuated by a two-run single by Austin Engels and a three-run homerun by Brody Bouwman to tie the game up. Bouwman was then hit by a pitch in the following inning with the bases loaded to give Lynden Christian a 7-6 lead, but the Wildcats rallied in the bottom of sixth scoring three runs to ultimately end LC’s baseball season. Lynden Christian got a pair of hits from Engels, Bouwman and Dexter Zylstra, and each player in the lineup was able to get a base hit. The Lyncs’ season ended with an 11-13 record.

O’Dea 7, Ferndale 2

In the first round of the 3A state tournament, the Golden Eagles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in bottom of the first inning when senior Andrew James tripled to left field which scored Jake Mason and Camden Raymond. That would be all the scoring for Ferndale as the Irish chipped away at the lead, eventually taking the advantage in the top of the fifth, and scoring four more in the top of the sixth. The only two hits that the Golden Eagles could come up with after the first inning were both off the bat of James, a single and a double. Ferndale’s season came to a close with a 19-5 record.
