The Trojans became the first Whatcom County team to get to 3-0 on the young season, and this time it was by fending off a pesky Coupeville squad. Junior catcher Ian Forbes knocked in three runs, giving him nine RBI’s so far this season, and fellow junior Tyson Timmer came through in the bottom of the second inning when he blasted a two-run double to give his team a 2-1 lead. Sophomore Jaeger Fyfe picked up his first victory of the season on the mound, and senior Hunter Jones closed out the game to pick up the save.

The Pioneers scored three runs in the top of the third inning, but they were already trying to dig themselves out of a 7-1 deficit going into the inning. Junior catcher Daemion Perez hit a double, a single and had a walk for Nooksack Valley. Right fielder Jesse Tresselt scored a pair of runs and Henry Lind struck out eight batters in four and 2/3 innings in relief.
