  • Ferndale 59, Mount Baker 46

The Golden Eagles flew out to a commanding lead early, and went into the locker room at halftime up 37-16.

The Mountaineers outscored Ferndale 18-10 in the third quarter, but it wouldn’t be enough as the Ferndale boys won their first game in the new gym.

Pressure defense was the key to the game for the Golden Eagles as they finished with 15 steals as a team, and senior point guard Bishop Ootsey led the way with six of them. He also stuffed the stat sheet with seven boards, a team-high six assists and he scored 10 points.

Sophomore forward Mantaj Singh led with 16 points and nine rebounds, and junior Lincoln Thomas had a season-high 12 points for Ferndale.

Mount Baker was led by the 13 points of sophomore guard Carter Hill.

  • Lynden Christian 69, Kentridge 41

The backcourt tandem of Dawson Bouma and Gannon Dykstra struck again, this time for a combined 49 points as the Lyncs picked up the big road win.

Bouma was on target all game, as he made six out of his nine three-point attempts.

Senior forward Kayden Stuit remained strong in the paint as he pulled down 12 rebounds to go with his eight points scored.

  • Nooksack Valley 64, Lakewood 59

The Cougars used a full court pressed for much of the first half, and led the entire half at home.

The Pioneers then outscored Lakewood 23-16 in the third quarter to tie the game at 50-50 going into the final period.

The Cougars resorted to deep shots for most of the fourth quarter, thanks to junior center Brady Ackerman rejecting multiple shots in the paint, and Nooksack Valley went on a 5-0 run in the final 2:45 of the contest to take the road win.

Junior point guard Caden Heutink scored 20 points to lead his team, including hitting 4-of-7 from downtown. Ackerman finished with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting, and he also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Junior forwards Colton Lentz and Tristan Kamphouse each scored 12 points for the Pioneers.

  • Mountlake Terrace 69, Lynden 65

The Hawks outscored the Lions 23-13 in the fourth quarter to complete the non-conference comeback win.

Senior guard Anthony Canales scored 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead his team, while junior forward Brant Heppner finished with 17 points.
