  • Squalicum 57, Ferndale 49

With 2:49 left in the third quarter, it looked like the Golden Eagles were going to get their first win of the season.

The Storm had just taken a timeout, and were down by 16 points, 41-25. However, back-to-back three-pointers by junior guard Fabian Singh, a steal and layup by sophomore forward Cole Burke and a three-pointer by freshman guard Hunter Calloway all took place before the third quarter ended.

Down by seven going into the fourth quarter, Squalicum continued its attack.

Ferndale senior guard Bishop Ootsey sank a pair of free throws, but that was followed up by another deep three-pointer by Singh, a turnaround jumper by Calloway and a steal and layup by junior Marcus Nixon with tied the game at 45-45 with 5:21 left in the game.

The Golden Eagles stayed within a few buckets, but a three-pointer by Storm junior forward Jaxon Hofer with 35 seconds left in the game made it 55-49 Squalicum, and too much to overcome.

Calloway ended with a game-high 16 points, and Nixon finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and four steals.
