The pressure defense and outside shooting of the Wolves got the best of the Mountaineers on Monday night in Deming.
A layup by sophomore Peyton Abitia with 3:12 left in the game gave Mount Baker a 50-49 lead. However, Coupeville went on a 9-2 run in the final three minutes of the game to pull out the victory.
6-foot-5 freshman center Kell Reardon posted a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds to along with a game-high five blocks in his varsity debut, and sophomore guard Carter Hill was 9-of-15 from the floor and he finished with a team-high 21 points to go along with his five rebounds and three assists.
Sophomore point guard Jordan Bailey had a team-high seven assists, as well as six points and three steals, and Abitia scored eight points off the bench.
