Borderite junior guard Josiah Weeda hit a late 3-pointer to tie the game at 62-62 to send the game into overtime, and he scored half of his team’s points in the extra period to help gain the win in the opener on the road.
Weeda finished with 29 points and nine rebounds, both were team-highs. Senior forwards Conner Dalry (11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks) and Noah Tavis (10 points, six boards and two blocks) also had strong games in the paint.
Senior point guard Uno Nevarez came off the bench to lead his team with seven assists, while also scoring nine points, and senior guard Jesse Deming picked up the hustle stats with five steals and three offensive rebounds.
Blaine jumped out to a 23-6 lead after one quarter, thanks to the hot shooting from Weeda and junior Jacob Dohner, who hit his first three 3-point attempts.

Despite shooting 2-of-14 from the foul line, the Mountaineers hustled their way to their first victory of the season.
Mount Baker grabbed 38 rebounds as a team, with 22 of them coming on the offensive side, which allowed the Mounties to keep multiple possessions alive at key moments in the game. Leading the way with 10 rebounds was junior forward Luke Smith, who also added nine points.
Freshman center Kell Reardon led his team with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field, while sophomore guards Carter Hill and Peyton Abitia each scored nine points, as did junior guard Christopher Armbright, who did it with a trio of 3-pointers. Armbright also led his team with five steals.
