THURSDAY – 12/28

  • Nooksack Valley 59, Toppenish 37

The Pioneers cruised to a 32-14 lead at halftime, and sustained a large lead throughout the rest of the contest.

Junior forward Tristan Kamphouse came off the bench to lead his team with 12 points and six rebounds. He also made both of his 3-point attempts.

Junior point guard Caden Heutink racked up 11 points, seven assists, six rebounds and two steals, and senior forward Joey Brown had 10 points and six rebounds.

  • Zillah 60, Lynden 55

The Lions led after each of the first three quarters, but the Leopards outscored the Lions in the fourth quarter to steal the victory.

Senior guard Anthony Canales led Lynden in scoring with 19 points while junior forward Brant Heppner shot 6-of-13 from the field and finished with a double-double, 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior center Jack Stapleton had a well-rounded game with 12 points, four boards, three assists and two steals, and senior point guard Brady Elsner dished out seven assists to go with his seven rebounds.

 

FRIDAY – 12/29

  • Quincy 62, Nooksack Valley 48

Day two didn’t go as well as day one for the Pioneers, but they did stay with the Jackrabbits in the first quarter which finished with a 13-13 tie.

Quincy began to pull away in the second quarter, and never looked back after that.

Junior center Brady Ackerman led Nooksack Valley with 15 points and seven rebounds, and Kamphouse scored all 12 of his points on deep balls.

Junior forward Colton Lentz shot 5-of-8 from the floor, scored 11 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had two steals despite missing much of the game due to early foul trouble.

  • Lynden 68, Mark Morris 48

In a rematch of last season’s Class 2A State Championship game, the Lions jumped out to an 18-9 lead after the first quarter, but the Monarchs closed the gap to just five points at the half.

Lynden went on to score 19 points in the third quarter, and outscored Mark Morris 18-8 in the final period.

Elsner ran the show smoothly as he handed out 11 assists while also picking up a team-high five steals.

Canales was the main beneficiary of Elsner’s passing as he hit 7-of-12 shots from the floor and finished with 23 points. He was also 7-of-9 from the foul line.

Heppner scored 14 points, with 12 of them coming from behinf the three-point line, and Stapleton had eight points and five rebounds.
