Lynden 5, Centralia 4

A walk-off single up the middle by Trinity Andrew scored pinch runner Meg Clarke in the bottom of the seventh inning to propel the Lions into the quarterfinal round. Down 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth Melanie Anderson scored on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Childrey DeJong to tie the game. One batter later, DeJong scored when Kasi Thomas ripped a line drive homerun to left field to give Lynden a 4-2 lead. The Tigers went on to tie the game at four in the top of the seventh before Andrew’s heroics.

North Kitsap 13, Lynden 1

The top-ranked Vikings scored early and often, and Lynden could never get the advantage. A first inning single by Grace Potter scored Campbell DeJong, but that would be the only run of the game for the Lions. Potter led offensively with two hits.

Port Angeles 7, Lynden 6

A fantastic season by the Lions came to a close late Friday night when they lost a heartbreaker to Port Angeles in an elimination game. The Roughriders got the walk-off win on a double, but not before the Lions took a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh on an RBI single by Trinity Andrew which scored Childrey DeJong. Grace Potter went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while DeJong hit her fourth homerun of the season. Lynden’s season came to a close with a 17-9 record.

Blaine 3, Riverside 1

Borderite junior Emersyn Bakker went 2-for-2 with a double, knocked in all three of her teams’ runs, and struck out 16 batters while getting the complete game victory. Bakker’s first hit of the game came in the first inning with the bases loaded when she unloaded a line-drive double down the right field line which gave Blaine an early 2-0 advantage. Bakker then knocked in Jordyn Vezzetti in the bottom of the fifth. Bakker gave up just five hits in her seven innings of work, and picked up her 16th win of the season to only two losses. The win puts the Borderites in the semifinals where they will face top-ranked Montesano at 9:00 tomorrow morning.

Royal 5, Lynden Christian 2

A walk-off three-run homerun gave the Knights the victory over the Lyncs. Lynden Christian held a 2-0 lead for a short while after a double by Sharlotte Whittern scored Kenadi Korthuis and Annie Zylstra in the first inning. Royal was able to get two runs back in the bottom of the third to tie the game, and the game was tied up until the dramatic moment to close out the contest.

Deer Park 21, Lynden Christian 6

In an elimination game the Stags scored in every inning before winning the shortened game. The Lyncs held a 6-4 lead after the second inning, but couldn’t push any runs across afterwards. Freshman first baseman Taylor Craig led with a pair of hits, while senior shortstop Annie Zylstra had a triple and three runs batted in. The loss ended Lynden Christian’s season with a 16-13 record.
