TUESDAY NIGHT:
SEHOME 3, MOUNT VERNON 0
The Mariners took care of business on the road by beating the Bulldogs 25-18, 25-16 and 25-16.
Junior setter Emmy Lee nearly had a triple-double with 19 assists, 11 digs and seven kills. She also posted a team-high five aces.
Sophomore Hayden Niewiadomski led with 12 kills, and the defensive force up front was led by Ava Lehn and Leah Lockwood who combined for seven blocks, while on the back line Molly Burfeind and Makenna Andrews combined for 30 digs.
BURLINGTON-EDISON 3, FERNDALE 0
The irresistible force that is the Tigers kept on marching forward as they beat the Golden Eagles in three straight sets.
Ferndale was led by senior Tia Gilday who led with eight kills and three blocks, and junior Lay Williams who had four kills and a block.
Senior Mallory Butenschoen had 15 digs, and sophomore Katrina Ferry dug out 14 of her own, while freshman Brooklyn Larrabee had nine digs to go with her 19 assists.
ANACORTES 3, LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 0
The Lyncs were defeated at home by the Seahawks in three straight sets.
Lynden Christian was led by junior Malia Johnson who had six kills, four aces and seven digs. Junior Audrey Ellingboe had 12 digs to lead her squad.
Sophomore Ella Fritts also had three assists, four digs and two blocks for LC.
OAK HARBOR 3, BELLINGHAM 0
The Wildcats won three straight over the Bayhawks at home on Tuesday night.
No other information was obtained at the time of posting.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT:
NOOKSACK VALLEY 3, MERIDIAN 0
The Pioneers got off to a great start by defeating the Trojans 25-13 in front of a roaring home crowd. Meridian fought back in the second set, but Nooksack Valley won 27-25 before taking the third set 25-21.
“It was senior night in the Valley, and I’m so proud of our seniors and their leadership skills,” Pioneer coach Katie Emmons said after the game. “Payton Bartl ran a smart offense and the rest of the team executed our game plan on both offense and defense. We were able to flush mistakes and move on to the next ball. We will continue to work on our serving and passing game.”
Bartl gave out 23 assists, and also had seven digs. She set up seniors Lainey Kimball and Tana Hoekema all evening, who combined for 25 kills. Kimball also had 22 digs, and Hoekema registered five blocks.
Pioneer senior Juliana Gimmaka also had 17 digs.
The Trojans were led up front by senior Emry Claeys who had 18 kills to go along with nine digs.
Sophomore Rylan Bernardy had team-highs in digs (16) and aces (2), and junior Grace Wells had 27 assists.
BLAINE 3, MOUNT BAKER 0
The Borderites played great on their home floor by defeating the Mountaineers 25-13, 25-15 and 25-12.
Senior Teya Zaddack led with 17 kills, four aces and a block, and senior Emersyn Bakker finished with eight kills and seven digs.
Senior Bella Vezzetti and junior Kaitlyn Harrington combined for 31 assists, while Harrington and senior Deja Dube each had a pair of aces.
Mount Baker was led by up front by sophomores Maddi Lewis and Amariah Nutting who each had six kills. Lewis also had a pair of blocks.
Junior Annalee Cohn had 14 assists and four digs, while sophomore Dakota Jimmie had 10 digs.
SQUALICUM 3, SEDRO-WOOLLEY 1
The Storm won their second match of the year by defeating the Cubs in four sets.
Seniors Chloe Nguyen and Liv Swayne came up huge with each of them posting 15 kills. Nguyen also led her team with four aces.
Sophomore Gwen Foy registered 17 digs, and junior Jazzy Bersola dished out 30 assists and had eight digs. Sophomore Archer Burns led with two blocks.
