SEHOME 3, LAKEWOOD 2

Lockwood

After three sets, the Cougars were up 2-1, but the Mariners fought back to win the last two sets and were able to pick up the conference win at home.

Sophomore Hayden Niewiadomski had a career-high 30 kills along with 13 digs to lead Sehome up front, along with juniors Leah Lockwood and Maddie Behrends who each picked up seven kills and two blocks.

“Leah stepped up greatly and was a force tonight,” Sehome coach Clayton Sin said. “It was her competitive fuel that pushed our team to win the last two sets.”

Sophomore Makenna Andrews and senior Molly Burfeind held the back line all night, and combined for 38 digs.

 

LYNDEN 3, BELLINGHAM 0

Shumate

The Lions continued with their winning streak by defeating the Bayhawks 25-16, 25-10 and 25-17.

Chen

Seniors Ashley Shumate and Grace Rice each had a double double. Shumate with 13 kills and 10 digs, and Rice with 22 assists and 12 digs.

Senior Mya VanderYacht added 15 digs, and three aces, and senior defensive specialist Kasi Thomas added seven digs and an ace. Senior Haylee Koetje had six kills, 11 digs and three aces.

Bellingham was led by the 10 kills of senior Catherine Chen, and the 18 assists by senior Meysha Riviere. Senior Chayse Flick-Williams added four kills, six digs, a block and an assist, while sophomore Jayda Knutsen tallied four kills, five digs, an ace and a block.

 

BLAINE 3, SEDRO-WOOLLEY 0

Harrington

The Borderites picked up their first victory of the season, and they did it at home by winning 25-26, 25-17 and 25-22.

Western Washington University bound senior Teya Zaddack led with 14 kills, 11 digs, three aces and a block. Junior Kaitlyn Harrington added eight kills, 12 digs and 15 assists.

“After fighting for the win in the first set, the girls came back strong in the second,” Blaine coach Jacquie Smith-Tesarik said. “Then they finished off the match with perseverance through the third set.”

Senior Bella Vezzetti finished with 20 assists, 13 digs, three kills and an ace, and senior Deja Dube had 16 digs, four kills and four aces.

 

FERNDALE 3, OAK HARBOR 0

Butenschoen

The Golden Eagles picked up their second win of the week by defeating the Wildcats 25-22, 25-14 and 25-17.

It a double-double night for senior Mallory Butenschoen who finished with 12 kills and 16 digs, while also posting a team-high six aces. Defensively, sophomore Katrina Ferry had 12 digs and junior Amelie McKeon had three blocks.

Freshman Brooklyn Larrabee dished out 28 assists to go along with her seven digs, while up front it was senior Tia Gilday with seven kills, two aces and a block, and junior Lay Williams with six kills and a block.

 

ANACORTES 3, SQUALICUM 0

The Seahawks defeated the Storm in three straight sets. Statistics were not available after the match.
