Pioneer senior Kasey Newton dominated on the mound, and in the batter’s box, in Whatcom County’s opening baseball game. He struck out 13 batters, and gave up just one hit, as he went the complete game that was called after five and a half innings due to darkness. He also went 2-for-4 at the plate with a triple, three runs batted in and two runs scored. Junior third baseman Colby Martin pounded four hits and drove in four, and senior shortstop Jesse Tresselt knocked in two runs.
