Lynden 7, Burlington-Edison 2

The Lions jumped ahead early by scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and they rode the right arm senior pitcher Kael Stapleton to victory. He allowed just four hits over six innings to grab his sixth win of the season, and send Lynden to 2A state tournament. Senior Lane Simonsen had a pair of hits, sophomore Matthew Carroll drove in two runs and freshman Gordy Bedlington reached base four times and scored three times. The Lions received the sixth seed and will face Ellensburg on Saturday.

W: Stapleton (6-2)

LYN: Simonsen 2-3, RBI, SB; Stapleton 1-4, R; Bedlington 1-1, 3 R, BB; Carroll 1-2, 2 RBI, 2 R, 2 BB; Moore 1-3, RBI; Tolsma 1-2, SB.

Lynden Christian 1, Nooksack Valley 0

Base runners were tough to come by in this loser out contest between two conference rivals. The lone run scored when Lync senior Brody Bouwman walked, and advanced to second on a balk. With two outs, and a full count, sophomore catcher Treyson Johnson singled down the right field line to score Bouwman. Senior pitcher Jonah Terpstra was superbly efficient once again as he tossed a one-hitter on just 66 pitches. The win gave Lynden Christian a berth in the 1A state tournament, and the loss ended the season for the Pioneers who finished 10-12.

W: Terpstra (6-2)

L: Newton (4-5)

LC: Johnson 2-3, RBI; Terpstra 1-4; Engels 1-3; Kok 1-3; Jay. Huleatt 1-3.

NV: Tresselt 1-3.

Cedar Park Christian 4, Meridian 2

The Eagles scored three runs in the first, and another in the second, and that was all that was needed to cool down the Trojans and win the bi-district tournament. Trojan junior Jonah Aase hit a 2-run homerun in the top of the fourth inning, but those would be the only runs for Meridian. Aase also pitched the final four innings of the game where he surrendered four hits, struck out four batters and didn’t allow a run. The Trojans have qualified for the 1A state tournament as the sixth seed and will face Kiona-Benton on Saturday.

L: Payne (5-4)

MER: Aase 2-3, HR, 2 RBI, R; Forbes 1-3, R; Brzozowski 1-3.

Overlake/Bear Creek 5, Lynden Christian 3

With both teams having already secured a state berth, this was a battle for seeding. After the lead changed hands a few times, the Lyncs tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the sixth, but the Growls struck for two runs in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead one last time. Sophomore Eli Maberry led with two hits, and Lynden Christian received runs batted in from Jonah Terpstra and Jaxon Huleatt. The Lyncs received the 13th seed and will face Naches Valley on Saturday.

L: Maberry (2-4)

LC: Maberry 2-4; Terpstra 1-4, RBI; Engels 1-2, 2 BB.
