Meridian 7, Bellingham 2

All nine Trojans batters in the lineup picked up a hit as Meridian bested the Bayhawks at home. Freshman Trey Alexander and senior Ian Forbes collected two hits each for Meridian, while Forbes and junior Jonah Aase each had two runs batted in. Freshman pitcher Nate Payne nearly went the distance and struck eight batters while giving up just five hits. Sophomore Kai Nelson and senior Jake Troost each had a pair of hits for Bellingham.

Senior pitcher Kasey Newton struck out nine batters and gave up just three hits over six innings to pick up his third victory of the season. He has now struck out 25 batters on the season. Senior Eddy Cerda secured the save, despite giving up a run in the final inning. Junior cleanup hitter Colby Martin, Newton and Cerda each had two hits to lead the Pioneers.

The Lions were down 3-0 going into the top of the sixth inning, but after a sacrifice fly by Tristan Thomas scored Cooper Moore, Lynden senior Austin Tolsma drove a double into centerfield to score Spencer Adams, River Langstraat and Jaydin Oaks. Senior pitcher Lane Simonsen picked up his third win of the season as he went the distance and gave up just a single hit, as the Lions remained unbeaten.

Ferndale 9, Sehome 2

After a rough few games offensively, the Golden Eagle bats woke up just in time for the conference game against the Mariners. Sophomore Fenton Vasak led Ferndale with three hits, including a triple, while seniors Dylan Moore and Carter Walser-Wasisco each scored a pair of runs. Vasak also pitched the complete game and struck out five batters. Sophomore shortstop Gunnar Tweit led Sehome with two hits.

Mount Vernon 7, Blaine 2

After winning their first five games, the Borderites have now dropped their third in a row. Senior second baseman Grady Swinburnson kicked off the scoring in the top of the first when he came across on a groundout. Blaine’s second run of the game came in the top of the fourth when a single by Owen Wenger scored Alejandro Moser-Hernandez. Senior pitcher Diego Gutierrez scattered four hits over four plus innings.

Lakewood 11, Lynden Christian 1

The usually potent Lyncs were only able to manage three hits and the Cougars belted out 17 of them on their own. Senior pitcher Jonah Terpstra struck out four batters over five innings, but took the loss. Lynden Christian got hits from senior Carson Libolt, junior Austin Engels and sophomore Eli Maberry.

Oak Harbor 9, Squalicum 2

Storm senior third baseman Colby Lewis doubled in two runs in the bottom of the fourth to cut the Wildcat lead to 4-2, but that would be all the runs Squalicum could gather at home. Senior Brady Scammell struck out four batters in two innings of relief work on the mound.
