Three Pioneer errors in the bottom of the second inning opened the door for five Trojan runs, and that ended up being the difference. Meridian freshman Nate Payne stood tall on the mound and tossed a three-hit complete game to pick up his third win of the season. Freshman first baseman Landon Rowley got two hits for the Trojans and he was aided by two runs batted in by senior left fielder Tyson Timmer. Nooksack Valley sophomore Evan Brown struck out seven batters in his four innings of relief on the mound.

Senior pitcher Lane Simonsen went the distance once again, and he improved his record to 4-0 on the season. He allowed just three hits and struck out six, and he lowered his ERA to 0.29. He also picked up two hits, as did senior Cooper Moore, to lead the Lions offensively. Senior Austin Tolsma and freshman Gordy Bedlington each had a double as well.

Senior Brody Bouwman doubled in sophomore Eli Maberry in the top of the sixth to tie the game at 1-1, and Maberry singled in sophomore Jaxon Huleatt and senior Eddie DeYoung in the following inning as the Lyncs handed the Wildcats their first defeat of the season. Bouwman threw just 76 pitches and completed the game while striking out four and allowing just two hits. Sophomore catcher Treyson Johnson also had two hits in the contest.

It was a scoreless game after three innings, but the Borderites came alive in the top of the fourth by scoring nine runs to break it wide open. Senior pitcher Diego Gutierrez didn’t allow a baserunner in his three innings of work, and senior designated hitter Hunter Vezzetti hit a three-run homerun in the fourth inning. Blaine also got a pair of hits from freshman Aaron Garza and senior Jesse Deming. The Mountaineers got a hit from Cameron Hesyck.

The Cubs got off to a hot start at home by scoring in each of the first three innings before securing the shutout over the Storm. Senior Colby Lewis struck out four batters in two innings of relief on the mound, and Squalicum got base hits from seniors Brady Scammell and Josh Kreta.

Mount Vernon 13, Ferndale 2
The powerful offense of the Bulldogs overwhelmed the Golden Eagles in the shortened contest. Ferndale scored two runs in the bottom of the first innings, but Mount Vernon pounded 14 hits throughout the game. The Golden Eagles got hits from junior Talan Bungard and sophomore Fenton Vasak.

Lakewood 8, Bellingham 4
Both teams scored a run in the second inning, but the Cougars continued to score in each of the next three innings and eventually doubled up the Bayhawks. Senior centerfielder Joe Toof pounded three hits, and knocked in two runs, to lead Bellingham’s offensive attack. The Bayhawks also got a pair of hits from sophomores Joe Harward and Eli Goodbuffalo.

Anacortes 7, Sehome 0
The Mariners struggled offensively as the Seahawks came to town and picked up the win. It was a 1-0 game after four innings, but Anacortes proceeded to pour it on late. Sehome got base hits from sophomore Gunnar Tweit and freshman Gunnar Anderson. Junior pitcher Ryder McGrath scattered five hits and struck out five in his six innings of work.
