Blaine senior Kieran Markusen picked up his sixth win of the season at Sultan.

Blaine 9, Sultan 2

Blaine 9, Sultan 2

Needing a win to get into the 1A bi-district tournament, the Borderites leaned on their ace Kieran Markusen, and the senior righty delivered. Markusen needed just 55 pitches to mow through the first five innings in which he struck out six batters and allowed just one hit. Because of his low pitch count, he should be fully ready to go on Saturday in one of Blaine’s two games to open the tournament. The Borderites batted around in the first inning to take control of the game, and led 6-0 after three innings. Senior first baseman Alejandro Moser-Hernandez led the team with two hits, two stolen bases and three runs scored, and senior center fielder Jesse Deming drove in a pair of runs.

W: Markusen (6-3)
