Meridian 67, Bear Creek 66
The Trojans were down 59-44 with 5:15 left in the game, but finished on a 23-7 run to come away with the road win to open the season.
As Meridian was chipping away, senior guard Jaeger Fyfe scored on a layup with 32 seconds to go, which brought the Trojans within two points, 66-64. The Grizzlies then had a chance to go up by four with a layup, but it was blocked by Canyon James, and Meridian was able to bring the ball up the court with 15 seconds to go, and down by just two points.
Fyfe handled the ball as senior Talon Jenkins ran around his other teammates who were setting screens for him. Fyfe got the ball to Jenkins at the top of the key, and he hit the game-winning three pointer.
Jenkins hadn’t connected on a deep ball before the fourth quarter, but hit four of them in the final period to help with lead the comeback. He finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and two blocks.
Fyfe led the way with 28 points, while shooting 5-of-11 from beyond the arc. He also grabbed five rebounds to go along with his four assists.
James’ all-out hustle throughout the game allowed him to total five rebounds, four steals, three assists and the huge blocked shot at the end of the game.
Guards Trey Alexander and Damion Hayes each finished with seven points to aid the Trojans.

Mount Baker 69, Coupeville 47
The Mountaineers began the game with a 15-0 run, and finished with a 22-8 run, as they picked up the road victory.
Senior forward Luke Smith led the way with 19 points and eight rebounds on 7-of-14 shooting, and junior guard Carter Hill added 15 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Hill also shot 6-for-6 inside the three-point line.
The Wolves led 34-33 with four minutes left in the third quarter, and Hill hit a three-pointer to break a 35-35 tie a few minutes later.
Mount Baker was also a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line.
Senior forward Darius Gilstrap added nine points and four assists, and sophomore center Kell Reardon finished with eight points and five boards.

After a tightly contested three and a half quarters, the Borderites closed the game out with an 11-2 to get the road win.
Junior guard Landon Melton came off the bench to lead his team in scoring with 15 points. He also grabbed seven rebounds and blocked four shots.
Senior forward Dulio Kanagie added 12 points and six rebounds, while senior guard Jacob Dohner had five points, seven rebounds and six assists.
Guards Josiah Weeda and Beckum Bleazard each finished with seven points for Blaine.
