Weeda

Extreme quickness to the hoop, coupled with a smooth outside shot, enabled senior guard Josiah Weeda to go off for 23 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the field as the Borderites picked up their second win to start the season.

Blaine’s constant motion on offense allowed for easy buckets early on, and the Borderites held a 27-12 lead at the half.

Senior forward Dulio Kanagie came off the bench to score 16 points and grab six rebounds, and junior guard Landon Melton finished with 11 points and a team-high four steals.

Hill

The Mountaineers moved to 2-0 on the season after a convincing win over Orcas Island at home.

Junior guard Carter Hill scored 24 points on 9-of-16 from the field, and he grabbed four rebounds and had four assists to lead Mount Baker’s offensive attack. He also connected on three of his seven 3-point attempts.

Sophomore center Kell Reardon added 12 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, and senior forward Luke Smith recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards.

Senior forward Darius Gilstrap recorded nine points and junior point guard Jordan Bailey added eight points and four assists.

Ga. Dykstra

The Lyncs could do little wrong at home in their opening game of the season as they doubled up their Canadian opponent.

Senior guard Gannon Dykstra scored 23 points on 10-of-20 shooting while also leading his team with seven assists, and sophomore forward Kaden Veldman collected a strong double-double with 18 points and 17 rebounds.

Senior forward Luke VanKooten also starred in his new role as a starter as he shot 8-of-12 from the field, scored 21 points, had seven boards and six assists.

Senior guard Carter Ahlers and junior guard Boyce Robertson each finished with seven points.

Coppinger

The Pioneers dominated the Turks at home to go to 2-0 on the young season.

The scoring for Nooksack Valley was evenly spread throughout the game, and throughout the roster as every player that suited up got into the scoring column.

Senior center Brady Ackerman led with 14 points, and he was closely followed by senior guard Caden Heutink and junior guard Cole Coppinger, both of whom finished with 12 points.
