Kelley

When senior forward Talon Jenkins hit two-of-two free throws with 1:35 left on the clock, it gave Meridian a 54-51 lead. The Mariners then closed the game out on a 9-0 run to take the road victory.

Sehome junior forward Xavier Kelley buried a corner three-ball to tie the game at 54-54, and that was followed up by a blocked shot on the other end of the court by sophomore forward Bane Mitchell, which just added to the momentum that was created by Kelley’s 3-pointer.

Jenkins

Kelley then found Mitchell in the paint, and his 4-foot-banker was good, while being fouled on the play. Although he missed his foul shot, it was rebounded by Kelley, and now the Mariners had a full shot clock, and a 56-54 lead, with 31 seconds left in the game.

The Trojans were forced to foul multiple times, but were four fouls away from getting into the bonus. Once in the bonus, junior point guard Nolan Wright hit both of his foul shots. Kelley was then sent to the line after a Meridian miss, and when he hit both of his foul shots, that was the game.

Wright and Kelley each scored 19 points to lead the Mariners. Kelley also had nine rebounds, and Wright added four assists.

Jenkins led the Trojans with 19 points on 7-of-14 from the field, and senior guard Jaeger Fyfe added 17 points.
