Lynden 74, Prosser 59
The Mustangs held close to the Lions throughout the first quarter of play and the Lions held a small one-point advantage heading into the second quarter.
Lynden outscored Prosser 21-11 in the quarter to open things up. Just before the first half expired, Lion senior guard Anthony Canales drove inside, drained a mid-range jumper, and broke the Lynden all-time scoring record.
Canales broke the previous record, held by Christian Zamora, of 1,620 and finished the night with a career total of 1,634 points.
Lynden carried the momentum into the second half as junior forward Brant Heppner knocked down the first 10 points for the Lions. The Mustangs played close in the final two quarters but the damage had been down in the second and Lynden held on to its lead the rest of the way.
Canales led his team in scoring with 35 points and Heppner had 21 points, and the Lions have secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the 2A state tournament.

Meridian 63, Life Christian Academy 57
The Trojans offset a tough outside shooting night by grabbing 20 offensive rebounds, and connecting on 12-of-13 from the foul line to pick up the victory over the Eagles and punch their ticket to the Sun Dome in Yakima.
Despite being up 21-12 after the first quarter, Meridian was only able to muster six points over the first seven minutes and 50 seconds of the second quarter as Life Christian was able to claw back and tie the game up, but a three-pointer by junior Talon Jenkins gave the Trojans a 30-27 lead at the half.
Surprisingly, those were the only points Jenkins scored in the first half. However, the 6-foot-5 guard found his rhythm in the second half and finished the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three steals. Seniors Christian Clawson and Taran Burks also posted a double-doubles, as Clawson finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Burks added 11 points and 10 rebounds. They each grabbed seven boards on the offensive side.
Junior guard Jaeger Fyfe was also held to just four free throws in the first half, but used his complete game to finish with 14 points, four rebounds, four assists, two steals and two timely charges taken.
The Trojans will play at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, and will face the loser of today’s game between Lynden Christian and Seton Catholic.
