  • Mount Baker 65, Blaine 54

Rebounding and defense were the keys to victory for the Mountaineers as they outrebounded the Borderites 49-33, and held Blaine to 33% shooting.

Junior forward Darius Gilstrap neared a triple double for Mount Baker as he finished with 16 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three steals.

Junior forward Luke Smith led his team in scoring with 17 points to go along with his nine rebounds, and freshman center Kell Reardon was strong inside with 16 points, 15 rebounds and two blocked shots.

Borderite senior Noah Tavis, and sophomore Landon Melton, each scored nine points to lead their team. The loss ended the season for Blaine.

  • Archbishop Murphy 55, Squalicum 52 (OT)

It was one of the most incredible comebacks that will be remembered for a long time.

The Wildcats led 44-21 going into the fourth quarter, and the Storm defense didn’t allow a single field goal in the final period as Squalicum clawed back to make it a three-point game with possession and less than five seconds left in regulation.

On the inbound, Hunter Calloway lobbed a perfect pass inside to Marcus Nixon, who quickly re-directed the ball outside to Fabian Singh who had wrapped around the court. Singh caught the ball, rose up, and drilled the deep ball from four feet behind the 3-point line to send the game into overtime.

The Storm had a similar chance in overtime to tie the game in the waning seconds but their three-ball rimmed out.

Singh led his team with 16 points, including 3-of-4 from deep, and 7-of-9 from the foul line.

Calloway finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists, and Nixon added 13 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists. The loss ended the season for Squalicum.
