Sehome's Liam Schumacher scored two goals to lead the Mariners to the state quarterfinal win against Fife.

The Mariners continued to prove why they are the top tanked team in the state as they shut out the Trojans in the quarterfinal round of the 2A state tournament. Junior Liam Schumacher scored two goals, and Sehome also got a goal from senior Noah Allen. The Mariners have yet to allow a goal in the tournament. Sehome will face East Valley of Yakima at 2:15 on Friday at Renton Memorial Stadium.

 

Franklin Pierce 4, Squalicum 3

The Storm’s amazing season came to an end on the road in the quarterfinal round of the state tournament as they lost to the Cardinals. Franklin Pierce scored two very early goals, and Squalicum countered with a goal from sophomore Cody McCaulley a little more than halfway through the first half. The score remained at 2-1 at the half. Storm junior Sebastian Cruz-Gonzalez tied it up at 2-2 early in the second half. A Cardinal header gave Franklin Pierce a 3-2 lead about 10 minutes later. Moments later a free kick by sophomore Isaac Grimes sailed past multiple Cardinal defenders and ended up in the net to tie the game at 3-3. The Cardinals then scored at the 74th minute for the eventual game winner. Squalicum’s season came to a close with a 14-6 record.

 

Royal 1, Meridian 0

The Trojans fell by the slimmest of margins against the 3rd seeded Knights in round two of the 1A state playoffs. After a scoreless first half, Royal was able to score its lone goal on a penalty kick at the 50 minute mark. Meridian’s season came to a close with a record of 14-5-1.
