The Red Wolves got on the board first, but the Mariners came back quickly and showed why they were the top seed of the 2A district tournament. Sehome got a pair of goals from junior Liam Schumacher and senior Noah Allen. Seniors Reiley Bury-Brown and Asher Sullivan also each scored a goal.

Squalicum 2, Anacortes 0

Storm sophomore Isaac Grimes kept his hot streak alive by scoring both of his team’s goals as Squalicum moves on in the 2A district tournament. The Storm will face Archbishop Murphy at 3:00 on Saturday at Civic Stadium.

 

Nooksack Valley 2, Mount Baker 0

Moving to the 1A district tournament, the Pioneers outlasted the Mountaineers in the play-in game. Nooksack Valley junior Junior Valeriano Jose Jr scored on a cross from fellow junior Alex Flores about 10 minutes into the game to kick off the scoring. Freshman Chris Castillo scored on a penalty kick midway through the second half, and junior Mauricio Arellano secured the shutout in goal.

 

Burlington-Edison 3, Bellingham 2

The Bayhawks got goals from seniors Judah Straight and Aidan McGuire, but the Tigers finished strong to pick up the win and will advance to the semi finals of the 2A district tournament. Bellingham will face Cedarcrest at 11:00 on Saturday morning at Civic Stadium.

 

Archbishop Murphy 4, Lynden 0

The Lions lost their first round game in the 2A district playoffs after winning three straight games to get into the tournament. They will play Anacortes at 1:00 on Saturday at Blaine High School in a loser-out game.
