The Squalicum Storm captured the 2A District 1 Championship, and will be headed to the state tournament.

The Bayhawks continued to keep their season alive as they ended regulation with the Wildcats tied at 2-2. Both goals came in the first half from senior Judah Straight, who now has 25 this season. It was settled by penalty kicks and Ashaan Baker made two incredible saves to secure the victory.

Squalicum 1, Sehome 0

In the game of the year in Whatcom County, it came down to the wire as after 90 minutes of soccer neither team had scored. Storm goalkeeper Blue Davis made a crucial save halfway through the penalty kicks in overtime, and Sebastian Cruz’s kick in the final attempt ended up winning the district championship for Squalicum. The Storm have punched their ticket to the 2A state tournament, and although Sehome lost its first game of the season, the Mariners are still alive and will play on Saturday for the a state berth.
