LYNDEN CHRISTIAN 3, MERIDIAN 0
The Lyncs picked the best time to play their best overall team-game as they defeated the Trojans 28-26, 25-18 and 25-23 for the district championship.
Lynden Christian will now play in a crossover on Saturday at Cedar Park Christian for a chance to advance to the state tournament.
Junior setter Ella Fritts ran a balanced offense with 31 assists which involved numerous teammates at the net. Junior Etta DeJong was one of the main recipients and she followed through with eight kills, while senior Danya Dykstra and freshman Tyra Dykstra each finished with seven kills.
Fritts and DeJong also tied for the team lead with eight digs each, and the LC front stood tall with 13 blocks, led by sophomore Jocelyn Eshuis who finished with four.
Meridian was led up front by freshman Melanie Short who finished with 13 kills, while also picking up eight digs. The backcourt stayed busy as senior libero Rylan Bernardy had a team-high 16 digs and junior Kinsley Neal added 13 digs.
Senior Grace Wells dished out 27 assists and finished with two serving aces.
NOOKSACK VALLEY 3, BLAINE 0
In a tightly fought battle, the Pioneers bested the Borderites 26-24, 25-22 and 25-20 which closed out the season for Blaine.
Nooksack Valley junior Payton Bartl served up three aces, dug out six, had four kills and gave out 25 assists to lead her team to victory. Sophomore Elizabeth DeLange led at the net with 12 kills and a .333 hitting percentage.
Junior Gracie Rutgers added nine kills and two aces, while junior Grace DeHoog finished with 10 digs, four kills and two aces.
Borderite senior Kaitlyn Harrington had a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs, while sophomore Teia Dube added eight kills and a team-high 17 digs.
Senior Brie Smith finished with 23 assists, 10 digs and two assists, and junior libero Hannah Phelps-McDonald had 10 digs.
SEHOME 3, ANACORTES 0
The Mariners were able to keep their season alive by defeating the Seahawks 25-17, 25-16 and 25-11.
Junior Hayden Niewiadomski continued her strong postseason with 14 kills and a .500 hitting percentage. Senior Emmy Lee added 30 assists, and senior Leah Lockwood had four kills and five blocks.
Junior libero Makenna Andrews finished with 12 digs and four aces, and Sehome also received four aces from sophomore Paige Flory.
LYNDEN 3, LAKEWOOD 0
The Lions also bounced back from Monday’s narrow defeat to eliminate the Cougars 25-10, 25-22 and 25-14.
Sophomore Finley Parcher was masterful in every phase of the game as she finished with 18 kills, 21 digs and three aces.
Freshman Izzie Stephan added 35 assists, eight digs and three aces, while the Lions got seven kills each from sophomores Lexi Hermanutz and Sarah McVie as well as junior Rian Stephan.
Junior libero Campbell DeJong also finished with 17 digs, and she was closely followed by senior Kamryn Hermanutz who had 16 digs.
