Freshman pitcher Callie Ramerman allowed just one hit and struck out eight batters in four innings to pick up her first varsity victory as the Lions rolled. Lynden scored 10 of its 14 runs in the first two innings, and was led offensively by junior Rebecca Powell who doubled and drove in a team-high five runs. Seniors Childrey DeJong and Kasi Thomas each scored three runs, and Thomas also knocked in a pair of runs.

The Mountaineers scored four runs in the top of the first inning, which included a 2-run homerun by junior catcher Gracie Zender, but the Tigers scored four of their own in the bottom of the second inning, and squeezed out another run in each of the next two innings to pull out the win. Other than Zender’s homerun, Mount Baker also got hits from juniors Annalee Cohn and Kennedy Rathjen as well as sophomore Zaida Haynes and freshman Kara Welters.

The Tigers rattled off six runs in the bottom of the third to extend their lead to seven, and the Trojans had trouble offensively and weren’t able to get runners on. Meridian got base hits from senior Katie Prengaman and junior Lorelai Margeson, and Prengaman also struck out five batters in her nearly five full innings of work in the circle.
