Lynden 3, Burlington-Edison 0
With great pitching performances on both sides, it came down to key offensive moments to make a difference in the loser-out/winner-to-state contest. The Lions led off the top of the third inning with back-to-back bunt singles by Kaiah Tull and Campbell DeJong, and when Melanie Anderson’s sacrifice bunt moved both runners along it set the table perfectly for Kasi Thomas. The senior catcher promptly crushed a double down the left field line to score both runners and get Lynden on the board. Two innings later it was DeJong’s speed that allowed for the third Lion run. Her line drive to centerfield who have normally been a single for most players, but her hustle allowed it to end up as a double. She then stole third base, and when the throw got past the third baseman she broke for home to score the third and final run. The rest was up to senior Trinity Andrew who was masterful in the circle. She allowed just six hits and struck out five in the shutout victory against a Tiger team that averaged over 11 runs per game. Lynden claimed the final 2A state berth and will play W.F. West at 1:00 on Friday at Carlon Park in Selah.
