Seton Catholic 8, Mount Baker 5

A pair of errors in the top of the third inning opened the door for six Cougar runs to be pushed across, and that would be all that was needed as Seton Catholic upended the Mountaineers in the semifinal round of the 1A State Tournament. Mount Baker scored four of its five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Ava Jeretzky, Lauren Valum and Kennedy Rathjen all had RBI doubles. Jeretzky also knocked in Annalee Cohn in the bottom of the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly, but the tying run was left at the plate.

MB: Maloley 2-3, R, BB; Valum 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R; Cohn 1-4, R; Zender 1-3, R, BB; Jeretzky 1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, R; Rathjen 1-3, 2B, RBI; Cloninger 1-3.

Montesano 14, Mount Baker 4

The powerful Bulldogs lineup allowed Montesano to jump out to an 8-1 lead after three innings, and the Mountaineers answered back with three runs in the fourth, but were unable to recover any more ground after that. All three Mountie seniors, Ella Maloley, Ava Jeretzky and Lauren Valum, led offensively with two hits each. Mount Baker’s season came to a close with a record of 22-7.

Othello 7, Lynden 2

An RBI single in the first inning by senior catcher Kasi Thomas and a solo homerun by sophomore Campbell DeJong in the third inning was the only offense that the Lions could manage as they lost to the Huskies in the consolation round of the 2A State Tournament. Thomas’s RBI gave her 53 on the season, which set the new single season school record for Lynden. DeJong finished with three hits, and scored both Lion runs. Lynden also got hits from seniors Childrey DeJong, Trinity Andrew and Sierra Alexander. Lynden’s season came to a close with a record of 21-8.

L: Andrew (18-5)
