Mount Baker 16, Nooksack Valley 8
The Pioneers led 8-3 through three and a half innings, but the Mountaineer offense scored 13 runs over the next three innings to take the game one victory. Junior catcher Gracie Zender drove in three runs with a double and a triple, and senior centerfielder Ella Maloley hit a homerun to help power the Mount Baker offense. Freshman pitcher Kara Welters allowed just two hits and struck out four batters in four innings of relief to pick up the win. Nooksack Valley was led offensively by Lainey Kimball, Alayna Dykstra and Shelby Mason who each had a pair of hits.

The Lyncs got on the board first with in the top of the second inning when Taryn Bos singled home Hannah Terpstra. The Borderites tied it an inning later on a run-scoring single from Jordyn Vezzetti, and then took the lead in the fourth when Teya Zaddack scored on an error. A single off the bat of Kassidy VanSoest tied the game up again, and Taylor Craig followed it up with a sacrifice fly to give LC a 3-2 lead. Vezzetti struck again for the Borderites as she laced a triple to right field which scored Shaylie Daniels in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game one last time, but a triple by Taya Vander Kooi scored Bos an inning later, which ultimately turned into the game-winning run.

After two scoreless inning, the Mountaineers ripped off six runs in the next two innings to take a decent lead, but the Lyncs caught fire in the fifth inning and went on to score four runs in each of the next two innings to take an 8-6 lead. LC tacked on one more in the top of the seventh, and Mount Baker threatened in the bottom of the seventh inning but was held to just one run. Freshman Sloane Hansen drove in three runs, and Lynden Christian also got a pair of hits from Taya Vander Kooi, Kassidy Van Soest, Addie DeJong and Taryn Bos. Ella Maloley was locked in for Baker as she finished with a double, a triple and a homerun. Even though the Lyncs won twice, a state berth has yet to be claimed as they will await the winner of today’s game between the Mountaineers and Nooksack Valley.

Nooksack Valley 13, Blaine 8
In this emotion-filled loser-out contest, it took an extra inning to get through as the Borderites scored five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the game up at 8-8, but the Pioneers scored five of their own in the top of the eighth, which was ignited by a bases loaded triple off the bat of senior Lainey Kimball. Nooksack Valley was able to shut the door in the bottom of the inning to hold on for the win. Alayna Dykstra continued her big day with three hits, three runs driven in and three runs scored, including a homerun. Sophomore Grace DeHoog also had three hits in the contest. Senior shortstop Jordyn Vezzetti led the Blaine offense with three hits and three runs driven in. The Pioneers will play in a loser-out game today at Bender Fields against Mount Baker in Lynden at noon. The Borderite season came to a close with a record of 14-8.
