Trojan senior Katie Prengaman did it all as she struck out 14 batters and belted a homerun to help her team begin the season with a victory. She pitched all seven innings and gave up just five hits and walking just one batter. Right fielder Lexi Neil led the offensive attack with three hits, while Maddy Ritter, Hailey Horsmon and Natalie Schultz each scored two runs.

After two and a half innings the Mountaineers had scored 10 runs, and all nine Turk batters had been struck out by Ava Jeretzky. She also had a pair of hits, including a triple, to lead the offense. Lauren Valum went 2-for-4 with three runs batted in while Annalee Cohn and Kennedy Rathjen each drove in two runs.

The Mariners overmatched the Bayhawks in the opener for both teams. Sehome jumped out to a 12-0 lead after the first inning, and sailed on from there. Pitcher Sarah Kruzich struck out six batters and didn’t give up a hit in her four innings of work, while also leading the offense with three hits, three runs and four runs batted in. Catcher Elyse Krout drove in a team-high six runs, while her and left fielder Lucy Greenberg each had a pair of hits. Bellingham’s A.J. Occhipinti reached base twice for the Bayhawks.
