Lynden 15, Archbishop Murphy 0

In the quarterfinal round of the district tournament the Lions were about as unstoppable as can be. They scored multiple runs in every inning, and allowed just one hit as they cruised into the semifinals. Senior catcher Kasi Thomas had three hits, scored three runs and had four runs batted in. Junior shortstop Melanie Anderson drove in three runs and scored three times, sophomore second baseman Campbell DeJong scored four runs and stole two bases, and senior pitcher Trinity Andrew drove in four runs and struck out seven batters in three innings of work.

Burlington-Edison 26, Sehome 3

The Tigers came into the tournament red-hot, winning four in a row, and they didn’t slow down against the Mariners. Burlington-Edison drove three ball out of the park, and also took advantage of some defensive miscues by Sehome. The Mariners were led offensively by senior catcher Elyse Krout who doubled in two runs.

Lynden 12, Burlington-Edison 2

Despite losing to the Tigers during conference play, the Lions went into the game confidently and put up six runs in the first two innings. Burlington-Edison scored two in the bottom of the third, but those would be the only runs as Lynden tacked on late in the contest. The win put the Lions in the district championship game where they will face top-ranked Sedro-Woolley on Friday at 6:30. Melanie Anderson led the offensive attack with three hits, including a double, and Kasi Thomas belted her sixth homerun of the season.

Archbishop Murphy 8, Sehome 7

The earlier loss sent the Mariners to the consolation bracket where they nearly completed the comeback against the Wildcats. Sehome was down 8-3 going into the final inning, but ran out of outs and was unable to tie the game up. Elyse Krout finished her career with a terrific game by going 4-for-4 with a double and a run batted in. Sophomore pitcher Sarah Kruzich added two hits and two runs scored. The Mariners ended their season with a record of 8-15.
