Turrell

The Mariners started out strong by outscoring the Golden Eagles 17-8 in the first quarter, but Ferndale was able to cut into the lead little by little as the game went on.

The Golden Eagles eventually took a 35-34 lead with seven minutes left in the game when junior guard Abbey White hit a three-pointer, but Sehome closed the game out on a 15-4 run which included numerous steals that led to easy buckets.

Fox

Sehome freshman Taylor Turrell led her team with 15 points, 10 rebounds and three steals, while junior center Aspen Barge added eight points, seven boards and two blocks. Sophomore guard May Madera also scored eight points for the Mariners.

Ferndale had a rough shooting performance, and made just 24.2% of its field goal attempts, 16% of its three-point attempts and 26.3% of its foul shots.

Junior forward Jilly Fox led the Golden Eagles with 11 points and nine rebounds, and White added 10 points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Rabang

The Blackhawks tipped off their season in a positive way by picking up a convincing victory over the Lions on the road.

Lummi Nation was able to jump ahead early on, thanks to a barrage of left-handed runners from guard Brianna Metteba, and the Blackhawks led 16-7 after the first quarter.

Lummi Nation added to its lead after every quarter, and four of its five starters reached double-digits in scoring. Alina Rabang led the way with a strong double-double of 15 points and 16 rebounds, while also grabbing four steals.

Metteba finished with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists, and Jemma James added 11 points, nine boards and six steals. Kashlyn Mack had 11 points, six rebounds and three steals.
