Junior center Grace DeHoog was a force all game as she collected 18 points on 7-of-16 shooting, as well as 18 rebounds and six steals.
Senior guard Kate Shintaffer added eight points, four rebounds and three assists, and junior guard Payton Bartl had eight points, four assists, three steals and three rebounds.

Blaine 40, Friday Harbor 24
The Borderites got after it defensively, and held the Wolverines scoreless in the first quarter. Blaine then exploded for 19 points in the third quarter, which allowed for its first victory of the season.
Sophomore point guard Kate Koreski led the Borderites with 13 points, and senior forward Brie Smith hustled her way to 10 points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore guard Marcella Bring added eight points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals, while Brietta Sandell and Beatrice Dickson had four steals each to lead Blaine.

Mount Baker 43, Orcas Island 29
The Mountaineers moved to 2-0 on the young season and were led at home by 6-foot-2 sophomore Rebeca Soares who scored 24 points and grabbed 17 rebounds.
10 of her rebounds came on the offensive glass, as multiple put-backs in the first quarter allowed Mount Baker to jump out to a 10-point lead.
Junior Samiya Powell also found her shooting stroke later in the game as she was able to connect on 3-of-6 from beyond the arc and she finished with 11 points.
Senior Faith Wilson also filled the stat sheet with six rebounds, four assists and three steals, while junior Reace Brown added eight rebounds.

The Bayhawks won their opener on the road in a defensive battle.
Sophomore forward Merritt Jensen set the tone by scoring the first six points for her team, and although she didn’t score after that, she was able to show her other talents by grabbing 13 rebounds and racking up seven steals.
Senior guard Malia Hanks led Bellingham with 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting, and she also grabbed six rebounds.
Junior forwards Lily Jude and Mary Lockhart each had five points, and senior Jenny Ruano’s quick hands led to five steals.
