Meridian 55, Sehome 51 (OT)
The Trojans rallied from being down by double-digit points in the fourth quarter to tie the game at the end of regulation, and ultimately pull of the victory on the road in overtime.
Freshman Melanie Short led the charge off the bench for Meridian, and she finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Sofia Brooks added 13 points, four rebounds and three steals.
Senior point guard Brooklyn Fuller was a perfect 6-for-6 from the line, and finished with 10 points and a team-high four assists, while sophomore Eden Bernardy hustled her way to seven points, six rebounds and six steals.
Sehome dropped its first game of the year, but was able to get 19 points, nine steals and seven rebounds out of freshman point guard Taylor Turrell. Sophomore forwards Kaitlyn Schroeder and Elyse Panagos added nine points each.

Lummi Nation 69, Providence Classical Christian 17
Not only did the Blackhawks score the first 10 points of the game, they also finished the contest by scoring the final 39 points of the game.
38 steals by Lummi Nation led to easy baskets, and plenty of foul shots, which the Blackhawks took advantage of, hitting 14-of-19 from the line.
Junior guard Ailina Rabang scored 25 points to lead Lummi Nation, and she was followed closely by sophomore guard Jemma James and senior guard Kashlyn Mack who each scored 19 points.
Mack also racked up 13 steals, five rebounds, four assists and three blocks, while James added eight steals, three rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Brianna Metteba added eight steals as well.

The inexperienced Borderites struggled on the road, despite leading 10-7 after the first quarter. The Vikings shut Blaine down in the second quarter and took the lead before the half and never looked back.
Senior forward Brie Smith pulled down 14 rebounds, five of them coming on the offensive glass, and sophomore guard Marcella Bring had eight points and six boards.
The Borderites totaled 32 rebounds, but couldn’t shake the cold shooting night as they shot 8-for-52 from the field.

Burlington-Edison 66, Squalicum 46
The veteran group of Tigers overpowered the Storm early on, as they jumped to a 21-9 lead after one quarter.
With sophomore forward Addison Kettman rehabbing an injury, Squalicum inserted freshman Kailana Perez into the starting lineup, and she responded with nine points and eight rebounds.
Sophomore Tiana Thompson scored a team-high 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting, and sophomore Carli Kiesau added eight points.

Sedro-Woolley 60, Mount Baker 31
The Cubs enjoyed a 27-10 run in the middle of the game before picking up the home victory over the previously unbeaten Mountaineers.
Mount Baker got eight points each from senior Faith Wilson, junior Reace Brown and sophomore Rebeca Soares, but suffered a cold shooting night from the outside, missing all 16 attempts from beyond the arc.
Soares also had nine rebounds to lead the Mountaineers, and Brown grabbed seven boards and two steals.

Watching athletes focus and sustain intensity throughout a game makes showing up for them part of the reward. Win or lose, great effort ladies. “A cold shooting night from the outside” doesn’t have to be that way.
