As the defending district champions, the Lions started quickly and held an early three-point advantage in the first quarter, after freshman guard Finley Parcher knocked down the first 13 points for Lynden. However, the Wildcats stayed within an arm’s length and held a one-point lead when the quarter ended.

The chess match continued into the second quarter but the Lions were out in front by one at halftime.

The Lynden defense began to shine in the second half. Almost five minutes into the third quarter, the Wildcats had only scored two points, compared to the 14 points the Lions had scored.

Archbishop Murphy would be held to just 13 points during the second half, while Lynden repeated its first-half performance of 33 points, successfully defending their district title and earning a berth into the regional round of the state tournament.

Parcher was the leading score for the Lions on the night with 25 points and sophomore forward Payton Mills had 18 points. Senior guard Haylee Koetje contributed eight points.
