The Lyncs held a nine-point lead entering the second quarter, in which they outscored the Borderites 25-6. Two more double-digit scoring performances from LC in the third and fourth quarters cemented their lead until the final buzzer.

The Lynden Christian defense worked extremely hard all night, allowing only single-digit scoring from Blaine in each of the four quarters.

Eleven different players scored for the Lyncs, with junior guard Danya Dykstra leading the way and scoring 16 points. Sophomore guard Ella Fritts and junior guard Grace Hintz each had nine points.

Senior Deja Dube led the Borderites in scoring with 10 points.

The Pioneers looked every bit of the top-ranked 1A team in the state as they steadily poured it on in their district opener against the Trojans.

Senior guard Devin Coppinger had the hot had as she connected on 11-of-15 from the field and finished with a team-high 25 points.

Senior forward Tana Hoekema posted another double-double, this time with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and senior forward Lainey Kimball stuffed the stat sheet with 13 points, six assists, five rebounds and five steals.

Senior guard Kaylee Anderson and sophomore forward Grace DeHoog tossed in eight points each.
