  • Blaine 49, Meridian 34

Points were hard to come by early for both the Trojans and Borderites, but Blaine held a 10-point lead heading into the second quarter. Meridian took the momentum and outscored the Borderites 15-4. Trojan freshman guard Maddy Swanson sunk a three-pointer at the buzzer to give her team a 18-17 halftime advantage.

Throughout the third quarter the two teams matched each other, and it was scored 30-30 headed into the final quarter of play. The Borderites put together their highest scoring quarter and pushed ahead to take a 15 point lead as the game ended.

Blaine’s scoring effort was led by senior Jordyn Vezzetti with 31 points and fellow senior Deja Dube with 10 points.

For the Trojans, freshman guard Eden Bernardy led the way with 11 points and sophomore guard, Kinsley Neal contributed nine points.

  • Lynden 81, Mount Baker 24

The Lion defense was relentless, and it turned into instant offense for Lynden which shot 51% for the game and forced 27 turnovers.

13 different players got into the scoring column for the Lions, and leading the way was sophomore forward Payton Mills who shot 5-for-7 from the floor, and a perfect 7-for-7 from the foul line for a team-high 18 points.

She also totaled seven rebounds, four steals and two blocked shots.

Freshman guard Finley Parcher added 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals.

Mountaineer sophomore Natalie VanLiew led her team with eight points, while freshman Violet Fox and senior Jenna Wineinger each contributed with seven points.

  • Nooksack Valley 63, Squalicum 27

The Pioneers proved why they’re the top ranked team at the 1A level, as they put a sudden stop to the seven-game winning streak of the Storm.

Nooksack Valley led 30-7 at the half.

All-State senior guard Devin Coppinger finished with 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists to lead the Pioneers, while the Nooksack Valley defense was led by sophomore forward Grace DeHoog who totaled seven steals and two blocked shots.

Squalicum senior guard Mari Binning led her team in scoring with nine points.

  • Oak Harbor 49, Bellingham 16

The Bayhawks were unable to get on track at any point during the game, and ultimately fell to the Wildcats at home.

Sophomore forward Mary Lockhart led Bellingham with nine points and 11 rebounds.

Freshman forward Merritt Jensen had a team-high five steals, and sophomore guard Avery Manning handed out three assists.
