With the score tied 1-1 in the 78th minute of the game, Lync junior midfielder Estela Segel broke away from two defenders on a loose ball and slotted it home past the keeper to ultimately win the game for Lynden Christian.
The Bulldogs opened up the scoring, but LC answered back three minutes later on a goal from sophomore Nayla Speer, which was assisted by junior Kayla Yun.
“It was a great battle between two outstanding teams that played out just like we thought it would after battling them to a draw in the summer,” Coach Brent DeRuyter said in a text immediately after the game.
