The Bayhawks jumped out to an incredibly fast start as junior Beckett Ferry took less than three minutes to score the opening goal. Just 25 seconds later it was senior Katie Knies who made an aggressive attempt at a 50/50 ball, and followed that up with her first goal of the game.
Knies scored again shortly thereafter to make it 3-0 before the sun even had a chance to set.
Bellingham keepers, senior Ellen White and freshman Uma Bachmeier, combined for the clean sheet, while the Bayhawks also got goals from seniors Ella Morrow, Sloan Mahn, Gracie Gouran and Ruby Brown, and sophomore Sophia Dionne.

It was a back-and-forth game with a lot of scoring opportunities for both teams, but ultimately it was the Wolverines that came out on top.
“It was a great first game to challenge our players and piece together the things we’ve been working on during the first week and a half of practice,” Sehome coach Emily Webster said in a text after the game.
Junior midfielder Keira Reeves played all 80 minutes, created opportunities by distributing the ball and worked hard on defense the entire game.

The Pioneers withstood the heat with the afternoon start time, but couldn’t grab the victory in their opening game of the season.
Nooksack Valley finished with five shots on target with midfielders, senior Alayna Dykstra and sophomore Peyton Duque, both working hard in the middle of the field and each collecting two shots on target.
