SEATTLE – Last year’s runner up became this year’s champion as the Bellingham duo of Ella Morrow and Kira Carlson took the 2A doubles state championship by defeating their Columbia River opponents 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.
Kalanie and Rilanna Newcomb of Lynden also fared well as they finished in 4th place in doubles competition.
On the singles side, Lynden’s Anna Samoukovic took third place after falling to the eventual state champion in the semifinals.
Bellingham junior Malia Hanks captured the eighth place finish in the state tournament.
